Finsbury update

At last the rains that were predicted for late Summer have arrived. So far we have received 186mm of gentle rain in March. The Kliprots River is flowing strongly after being at it's lowest in over 25 years. The seven weirs that were desilted on the Kliprots over the last period are now full of water and stocked with fish. In fact over seventy weirs on the farm are now stocked with fish and ready for action over the Easter weekend as seen below at K22, K20 and K23. The landscape is beautiful and green, animals are in their element with plenty of food around at the moment.

As you all know the sludge pump has been working at S6 over the past couple of weeks and has made significant progress in removing silt and re establishing good depth to the dam. It's a pleasure to see all these weirs which were silted up now deep and full of fish. Below photos tell a story of what S6 looked like when we started desilting, men at work and what it looks like now. The team is kitted out with wet suits to insure that they are kept warm when in the water.
