Sludge pump update
Update on the sludge pump
We have completed the desilting of S6 as far as possible. At this stage of the desilting process it has been established that we make a difference to the depth of as many weirs as possible without breaking down any infrastructure (weir walls). As you can see below the pump team has pumped to a depth that they can no longer stand and operate in. The pump worked over 100 hours to achieve this.

The below photos give you and idea of how much silt was pumped out of S6. This used to be an old mining hole of approximately 30 m long by 10 m wide by 2 meters deep.
We are currently busy with S7 as seen below.
S7 has a mixture of roots, reeds, rocks and hard mud which will require a significant time period to remove or pump out. We have found a small miners hole next to S7 where we are currently pumping the silt.
